Apache

Apache is an open source webserver which directly competes with the Netscape Enterprise Server, Microsoft's IIS, and Webstar.

A webserver is like a server in a restaurant who takes your order, then gathers the food from the chef and delivers it to you.

When you enter "yvod.com" into your browser, the web server is responsible for grabbing all the information associated with the home page (images, sound, movies, text, etc.) from where the web master has stored it for access. It then sends the information to your browser in a format your browser understands, and your browser can create our homepage on your screen. This is a long winded way of saying that any info stored on a web master's computer (and marked as accessible) can be served by Apache to your browser.
